Merricks Capital among Australia’s best privately managed companies

Leading Australian alternative investment manager and hard-asset investment specialist, Merricks Capital, has been named one of nine leading private Australian companies recognised for their outstanding business performance in Deloitte Australia’s 2023 Best Managed Companies awards.

The Best Managed Companies program identifies and celebrates privately-owned and managed companies across Australia that set high standards of business performance and shines a light on the power of private businesses as innovators and major contributors to Australia’s economy.

The program’s independent judges challenged and evaluated the strengths of the applicants across four key pillars: strategy; culture and commitment; capabilities and innovation; and governance and financials.

David Hackett, Merricks Capital CEO said: “Merricks Capital is delighted to again be named among Australia’s best managed private companies.

“Receiving this award fills us with immense pride and gratitude. It’s a clear acknowledgment of the relentless efforts and remarkable skills of our team. This achievement is proof to us of the boundless possibilities when dedication to excellence and high performance meets innovation.

“We’re thrilled to have been recognised by Deloitte and the Best Managed Companies judges for our strategy, innovation, and capabilities.

Natalie Faull, Deloitte Private lead partner and Best Managed Companies Asia Pacific leader, said: “Our Best Managed Companies program is about celebrating the passion, dynamism, resilience and focus on sustainable growth that typify Australia’s best managed private businesses.

“Just like Merricks Capital, they are purpose-driven, disciplined organisations, industry leaders and significant employers. They are navigating the future with confidence, and setting a very high bar for what success can look like for private businesses in Australia.”

About the Deloitte Best Managed Companies program

Best Managed Companies was established in 1993 in Canada and has become one of the most significant business awards of its kind. The program is active in 46 countries in the Americas, Europe and Australasia, and is launching across Africa.

The program recognises privately held companies for their organisational success and achievement and provides a distinct framework for management teams to challenge themselves and benchmark against some of the best private companies in the world.

Companies are evaluated by an independent judging panel comprised of representatives from program sponsors, in addition to special guest judges.

Over an eight-month period, winners receive coaching from leading business advisors, networking opportunities via invitations to exclusive events including premium sponsor events, and key branding and promotional opportunities.
