A vertically integrated horticulture business in the Central Otago region of New Zealand required capital to refinance existing senior debt and fund orchard development across the portfolio of properties. The business covers four orchards including a 170 hectare greenfield development property in Central Otago, a key cherry producing region in New Zealand.

The finance provided gave the business the opportunity to grow and improve the quality of existing assets. Local consulting firms were used to complete appropriate Due Diligence of the project.

The borrower is an entrepreneur who had successfully exited a previous business, in a similar sector and the local external consultants were impressed with the level of knowledge and expertise from borrower. We see the opportunity to be a part of the long-term journey with this business which has a requirement for an ongoing funding partner to support the business through orchard development, until the trees reach maturity.
